The Dickson County girls and boys traveled to Wavery Central for a pair of varsity matchups Tuesday night in what was almost the Cougars’ first sweep of the season.

The Lady Cougars got a convincing win against the Tigerettes by a score of 66-55.

AC Milam would lead the way with 17 second-half points, 25 total, and five made three-pointers.

It was Jaida Fann with 12 and Jenna Russell with 11 points following behind her in the victory.

The Lady Cougars played solid defense all night and were able to keep the lead at about 8-12 points all night.

Russell led the way with seven rebounds and was tied with assists with Anna Leatherwood.

There were some moments of fear of a comeback, but DC held strong and kept the winning streak going with three in a row now improving their record to 6-9.

The boys would follow to play their first game in almost two weeks losing a barn burner 46-48.

The 6’6 sophomore Chanx Martin made his varsity debut after earning his eligibility and he did not disappoint.

He would get the start and lead the way with points, rebounds, assists, and blocks having 13, 5, 3, and 2.

His length and athleticism are an exciting development for this varsity squad.

Josh Cope came off the bench and would still get the ball in the bucket efficiently garnering a dozen points.

10 total Cougars saw the floor on Tuesday, coach Dodd has mentioned he wants that number closer to eight but has not gotten there yet.

Both teams look to travel to Clarksville NE on Friday.
