It was no secret that Clarkesville Volleyball coming to Charlotte, TN on Wednesday night was a big deal.
Head Coach of the Creek Wood Volleyball team Jeremy Baker had been talking to me about this matchup since the preseason.
I had hyped it up for weeks leading up to the game.
All for good reason.
Clarkesville was 15-3 on the year, 8-0 in their district, and sits in class AAA a full level above Creek Wood.
If nothing else this should have been a very competitive game.
Especially considering that just a few weeks prior these teams met in a tournament and Creek Wood squeaked by them two sets to one.
None of that mattered on Wednesday night.
The Lady Red Hawks came out and showed why they are one of the elite teams in their classification and the state in volleyball.
Firing on all cylinders Trista Jackson, Hanna Gossett, and the rest of their team were nothing short of dominant start to finish.
Clarkesville was without their starting middle blocker, but that is no excuse for the embarrassing performance by them.
The Lady Red Hawks won in straight sets 25-12, 25-9, 25-18, they played many JV players in set three.
It was a clinic from what many, including Coach Baker and Dickson County Head Coach, and former player, Jacklyn Clements are calling the best Creek Wood Volleyball team they have seen in the school’s short history.
The Lady Red Hawks continue to improve and will get back to action next week, but keep an eye open as we approach the postseason.
This team might just be going the distance.
