Creekwoods’ girls’ basketball team is spending the early part of this week at a tournament in Guntersville, AL.

Three games in Three days against elite out-of-state competition.

The Lady Red Hawks sent a message on day one with a 59-42 victory of Skyline out of Scottsboro, AL.

The Skyline Lady Vikings came into this game on a 10 game winning streak and feeling confident.

Creekwood made it clear quickly that anything Skyline could do, the Lady Red Hawks did it better.

From the opening tip, it was clear the Lady Vikings, who boast just seven varsity players, wanted to try and run up and down the floor.

They quickly realized they were playing to the Lady Red Hawks strength.

The only lead Skylin ever held came in the first quarter around the five-minute mark they led five to four, after that, Creek Wood found their stride.

With a 24-21 lead at the half, Brianna Burgess and Laura Nichols came out in the second half and set the tone scoring eighteen and nineteen points respectively.

Nichols had twelve of her nineteen in the third quarter to really bury the Lady Vikings and put them in desperation mode.

We will see if the Lady Red Hawks can carry this momentum over to tomorrow when they take on Muscle Shoals.

Tip-off at 12:45, pre-game at 12:30 on 101.5 the One.
