We, myself included, have a tendency during the Spring to concentrate on the diamond sports.
High School specifically.
Mostly because that is what gets put on the radio.
However, that does not mean that we do not see other sports and athletes, at all levels, succeeding.
For instance, Addy Szely, from Stuart-Burns 5th grade, competing in the Mid-South Golf Series Junior Masters!
Or over on the Tennis Courts, the Lady Red Hawks finished second in the 10AAA District Championship.
They will have individual tournament play in Clarkesville starting this week!
On the mats, and yes I know wrestling isn’t a spring sport, but Ari Anderson was named MTWCA Mid-State Wrestler of the Year!
Over on the soccer pitch, the Cougars are primed for a deep postseason run to the regionals.
At the Middle School level, both Dickson and Burns picked up wins in the Tri-County Tournament.
We of course cannot forget our Track and Field teams.
DCHS had four sub-sectional qualifiers in the 200m dash.
Emma Anderson, Leaira Hunter, Malakhi Redman, and Jesse Stewart.
Burns middle had two state qualifiers in Discus.
Lilly Stone and A’Vyon Hornbeak are both state bound.
Stone winning the sectional by a distance of 103-3 versus the second-place thrower at 97-9!
Meanwhile, the boys’ team as a whole finished as the TMSAA sectional runner-up and the girls finished third.
The Bobcat boys 4X400 relay team also qualified for state!
Not to mention, shoutout to Kayden Tidwell, Kate Pevahouse, Ragan Kullman, and Shiloh Schroeder, alongside Coach Kelley Shattuck for being named Grand Champions in the 4-H Western Judging for the first time in Dickson History!
Finally the diamond sports, at the middle school level.
Charlotte Baseball came in runner-up in the TMSAA area 18 tournament, losing to the champs Burns Middle!
Burns Middle then, about a week later, eliminated Charlotte in the sectional tournament!
A great season for both squads!
Burns Softball team also won the TMSAA area 18 tournament, they would go on to defeat Jo Byrns and Waverly in the sectional tournament.
As you can see, we may concentrate on the Diamond sports for the high schools, but there is plenty of success to celebrate across Dickson County!
Excited to see how everyone finishes up!
