There was little doubt about who would come out victorious as Creek Wood hosted Montgomery Central Friday night in the regular-season finale.

However, the utter control and domination were a great sign for the postseason.

The Lady Red Hawks tied their season-high in points with a 76-24 win.

Meanwhile, the Red Hawks defensively were elite winning 59-31.

Both teams showed an ability to move the ball well.

Double-digit assist totals and scoring up and down each lineup bode well for upcoming tournaments.

The Lady Red Hawks were led by Laura Nichols and Brianna Burgess who combined for twenty-five, or nearly a third of their teams’ points.

However, they scored just five in the 2nd half as we saw many young bench players start finding a rhythm.

Brooke Burgess, Lily Killebrew, Hannah Gutherie, and Zoey England all had multiple buckets throughout the third and fourth quarters.

For the Red Hawks, it was, again, an elite defensive performance.

They allowed not a single double-digit scorer. In fact, DT Faulk who had twenty-six in the first matchup managed just eight in this one.

Keeping up with the trend, the Red Hawks had scoring up and down the lineup.

Only Bryson Harding managed to reach double figures with eleven, but Braden Dawson and Jace Herrell each had nine. Clint Morgan had eight, Carter Thomason seven, and Jamison Ford six.

All of Fords came in the first half as he concentrated in the second half on stopping Faulk.

All in all, two very impressive wins for Creek Wood.

Now they wait and see who their opponents will be on Saturday at six and seven-thirty for the opening round of the district tournament, which they are hosting.
