Rodney O. Parker confirmed Wednesday that he has been selected as the new baseball coach for Dickson County High School. Parker follows Ray Ragan, who was relieved of his coaching duties following a 6-26 season and a first-round exit from the District 11-AAA tournament. “I am truly honored and blessed to be the next head coach of Dickson County baseball,” Parker said. Parker has been an assistant principal, athletic director, head golf coach and assistant baseball coach at Creek Wood High School. He leaves a Red Hawk team that finished 26-11, ending its season Monday in the Region 6-AA semifinal. It has not been announced what faculty position, if any, Parker will fill at DCHS. Creek Wood Principal Corey Duke also is leaving his position after four years. Duke was one of eight applicants for the DCHS baseball job but nothing has been announced about his position for next school year. Duke will preside over his final graduation at Creek Wood tonight.
