LeaLea Carter nominated for 2016 McDonald's All American team

Dickson County High School’s LeaLea Carter is one of 755 high school seniors nominated for the McDonald’s All American teams. Players are nominated by coaches and administrators at their schools and a panel will select the 24 boys and girls who will play in the 2016 games in Chicago. The final rosters will be announced in a selection show at 9:30 pm Jan. 17 on ESPNU. The McDonald’s All American Games start March 30 at the United Center in Chicago and include a variety of skills contests as well as the all-star games. Past McDonald’s All American games have included Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Candace Parker and Maya Moore, among many other NBA and WNBA stars. Rachel Bell was nominated during her senior season at Creek Wood but was not selected for the final roster. Carter has committed to play at Vanderbilt. She is averaging 16.6 points and 8 rebounds for the 13-2 Lady Cougars, who host Ravenwood Friday. Carter is one of four Tennessee girls nominated for the McDonald’s team, along with Crystal Dangerfield and Jazz Bond of Blackman and Rodrea Echols of Memphis Overton.
