Lady Cougars earn top seed, bye after wrapping up undefeated district season

Dickson County High School’s Lady Cougars closed out their first season as a member of District 11-AAA by going undefeated in the district. The Lady Cougars beat Summit 6-4 Friday in the regular-season finale to complete a 12-0 district record and earn the top seed and a bye for the tournament that begins today in Franklin. Today’s softball tournament games at Fly Park have Ravenwood facing Independence and Summit taking on Cenennial at 4:30 with the winners meeting tomorrow. Brentwood and Franklin battle at 4:30 today and the Lady Cougars get the winner in tomorrow’s featured game on the RFC Sports Network with pregame coverage starting at 4:15. District 11-AAA soccer also begins today with the Dickson County Cougars going up against Brentwood. The Cougars finished their first campaign in District 11-AAA winless at 0-5-1 and fell to the Bruins 9-1 in their regular season match. The Cougars travel to Brentwood tonight with the winner facing the survivor of Independence and Summit. Ravenwood and Centennial battle tonight with the winner going up against top-seeded Franklin. After beating Culleoka Friday, the top-seeded Creek Wood soccer team advances to the District 11-A/AA semifinals to face Columbia Academy tonight. Faiview and Hickman County meet in the first contest at 5 pm followed by the Red Hawks and Bulldogs at 7:00 at Columbia Academy, with the winners to battle for the tournament championship.
