The Dixie Youth 7/8 All Stars were recognized at Thursday night’s City Council Meeting for their accomplishments through the season. The team was honored at the beginning of the meeting, with Dickson Mayor Don L. Weiss reading a proclamation in recognizing the team’s significant wins.
“We are honored to have a group of seven and eight-year olds from the Dixie Youth Baseball League out of Buckner Park here with us tonight,” Mayor Weiss said prior to reading the proclamation. Mayor Weiss asked the team and coaches to stand during the reading of the proclamation as well, as onlookers took photos and videos of the recognition.
The All Stars made local headlines earlier this year when they won the District Championship and its first-ever Coach Pitch Tennessee State Championship when they defeated Sweetwater. The team then advanced to the double-elimination championship bracket at the World Series by defeating several teams. The All Stars were named co-runners up with Alabama, with Louisiana taking home the championship.
The Dixie Youth 7/8 All Stars are made up of team members Cody Burgess, Kase Daniel, Max Greene, Ellis Hamrick, Aiden Holland, Knox Little, Jace Pilkinton, Alex Potter, Drew Sanders, Archie Smith, Cayden True, and Bryce Williams. The All Stars were coached by Tommy Greene, Kevin Little, Phillip Holland, and Todd Potter.
