Dickson Man dies in motorcycle wreck

A Dickson man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided into the side of a pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 46 South and Beasley Drive in Dickson on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

27 year old Jordan Wood died when the motorcycle, traveling south on the highway, impacted the side of a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a Hickman County man around 2:30 pm.

Dickson Police Captain Todd Christian said the truck had been traveling northbound on the highway and then turning left on Beasley Drive and turned in from of the path of the motorcycle.

“He didn’t see the motorcycle,” said Christian.

Wood was transported to TriStar Horizon Medical Center and later flown by LifeFlight to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. Christian said Wood was wearing a helmet.

The preliminary investigation shows at this time no alcohol or drugs were involved.

Witnesses provided conflicting reports about whether Wood was traveling fast.

According to law enforcement, the investigation has not determined how fast Wood was traveling.

Christian said the Hickman County driver reported that he approached the red light, saw two cars in from of him turn, and then he turned the truck. A passenger was in the truck but also reported not seeing the vehicle, then heard the impact noise and asked what caused the sound.
