Dickson County Schools schedules listening tours for the community

The Dickson County School System continues to revise school attendance zones in order to create an attendance zone for the new Burns Middle School an anticipated enrollment across the county. These boundary changes are projected to become effective in the 2019-2020 academic school year. The Board of Education will also be opening a new elementary school during the Fall of 2019. The Systems still looks to minimize distribution to students and families while balancing the capacity of schools and managing student enrollment and school system efficiency.

Board member will also be available for listening tours, so that the community can come and ask questions in regards to zoning. The public is welcome to come to any of the three meetings:

February 11 at Oakmont Elementary School

February 21 at Dickson Middle School

March 5 at The Discovery School

The listening tours are an opportunity for the community to provide input, however, these are not question and answer session. Participants wishing to speak may sign up at the meeting on a first-come, first- serve basis to make a three minute presentation. Participants will provide their name, address, and email address if available. Presentations will be time, in fairness to all the speakers and the audience. In addition to these dates, if someone cannot make the listening tours, comments may be emailed to info@dcbe.org. Frequently asked questions will be placed on the System’s website.
