Dickson County Sheriff’s Office employees and City of Dickson employees will be facing off in their third match of their annual softball game to benefit Relay For Life.
Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in thousand of communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give their time and effort because they believe it is time to take action against cancer.
The city’s Waychoff Warriors and the sheriff’s office’s Putting the Cuffs on Cancer will meet at the Tennsco Recreational Complex on Tennsco Drive on Sunday October 21 at 2:00. Each team is comprised of various departments, employees, and family members.
The Warriors team won the initial best-of-three series in 2016 and Putting the Cuff on Cancer evened the series in 2017. Admission is free but donations for the Dickson County Relay For Life will be accepted.
There will also be concessions, a bake sale and an auction of baked goods between innings with Councilman Bird Armstrong serving as the auctioneer.
The Waychoff Warriors are named for former Councilman, City Administrator, and Mayor Tom Waychoff, who passed away in 2012 after a lengthy battle with cancer. The sheriff’s office debuted its Putting the Cuffs on Cancer patrol car featuring pink insignia and decals at the 12th annual Relay For Life celebration in 2014.
