Creek Wood’s Lady Red Hawks swept the postseason honors for District 11-AA softball. The awards were announced Thursday night at the conclusion of the district tournament won by Creek Wood over Waverly 6-5. Becky Melton, who set a school record for home runs in a season and belted another one in last night’s championship game, was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player. Lady Red Hawk Carrie Allen was voted Most Valuable Defensive Player by district coaches. The Most Valuable Pitcher award went to Creek Wood’s Taylor Griffith. First baseman Cheyenne Douthit and second baseman/shortstop Samantha Davenport, who hit a pair of two-run homers including the walk-off winner in the title game, were named 1st Team All District while centerfielder Kayla Jackson and shortstop/pitcher Brett Jackson were named 2nd Team All District. Voting for the awards was conducted at the conclusion of the regular season. Creek Wood finished 12-0 and first in District 11-AA and claimed the tournament title Thursday night. The Lady Red Hawks will host a Region 6-AA semifinal on Monday against the runnerup from District 12-AA.
