Creek Wood High School graduate and APSU student killed in Friday wreck

A White Bluff teen who was in his first semester of college died Friday in a wreck in the Cumberland Furnace area.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 18 year old Richard Luke Phelan was killed about 2:15 pm Friday when the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV he was driving was south on Highway 48  were to the left, went off the roadway, and hit to trees. The wreck occurred at the Highway 48 North intersection with Nolan Road.

Phelan, a Creek Wood High School graduate this year was attending Austin Peay State University and planned to major in political science.

According to his obituary, Phelan planned to run for public office someday. The obituary also states that Phelan was a member of the Creek Wood band and loved playing cards.

Funeral services for Phelan were under the direction of the Spann Funeral Home and Bro. Matt Honeycutt officiated.
