Creek Wood High School’s baseball and softball teams advanced with opening round wins in the district tournaments Thursday. The top-seeded Red Hawks jumped on East Hickman early with five runs in the first inning and nine in the second to run away with a 14-0 five-inning victory in the District 11-AA baseball tournament Thursday. Zach Wood and Paul Rahman had two RBI each as Creek Wood took advantage of six Eagle errors. After getting the big lead, Creek Wood was able to rest starter Kyle Klotz and paraded Dylan DePriest, Taylor Piper and Devon Higgins to the mound to combine for a two-hitter. Creek Wood advances to face Montgomery Central at 7 pm today in Charlotte after the Indians beat Hickman County 5-3. Pregame coverage on the RFC Sports Network starts at 6:45. East Hickman and Hickman County meet in an elimination game at 4:30 at Creek Wood. Creek Wood’s Lady Red Hawks remained perfect in District 11-AA action with a 4-2 win over Montgomery Central to open the tournament. Creek Wood advances to face Camden today.
