Thursday evening, a male motorist told Dickson County Sheriff’s Office deputies a bomb was under his vehicle and a juvenile was holding the detonator for the bomb. This caused a bomb team to investigate which closed Interstate 40 for hours, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said no bomb was found while the interstate was shut down. It was shut down for about two hours into early Friday morning.
The person drove up next to deputies who were working on a call, and the person said the vehicle they were driving contained a bomb. Deputies evacuated the area and Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
Dickson County Sheriff’s Office officials have not yet released information about the incident.
THP used a robot to check the vehicle.
The interstate eastbound and westbound traffic was closed from mile marker 176 to mile marker 182 during the search.
According to the sheriff’s office, the male who reported the bomb was taken to Horizon Medical Canter for evaluation.
