Applications are currently available for the Leadership Dickson County Class of 2015. A program of the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Dickson County is designed to nurture the county’s most valuable resource: its people, according to program Coordinator Stephanie Gayler of Traditions First Bank. More than 350 individuals have completed the program since its inception in 1992. Gayler said Leadership provides participants with a better understanding of their community and themselves. Leadership Dickson County is a nine-month program that meets one full day per month. The purpose of each day is to provide an overview of a specific segment of the community through tours, seminars, workshops and interaction with community leaders. Topics include Dickson County history, education, healthcare, city, county and state governments, social services, economic development and more. The program also includes team-building and communication skills exercises as well as numerous networking opportunities. Applications for the Leadership Dickson County Class of 2015 are available from the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce at 119 Highway 70 East or by calling 446-2349 or online at dicksoncountychamber.com. The deadline for applications is July 31 for the class that begins in September and will graduate in May 2015. A preliminary schedule of class sessions is available with the application and those applying must be able to commit to participating in all sessions in order to graduate. Tuition is $375 and limited scholarships are available. Class membership is limited and there is a competitive selection process.
