DICKSON COUNTY CORONAVIRUS CASES ARE RISING AND SO ARE LOCAL HOSPITALIZATIONS
By Dave Barkholz
The ongoing jump in local Covid cases has landed three residents in the hospital.
TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson said it has three locals in its care as of Tuesday.
Dickson County has joined much of Tennessee in a mini-surge of infections.
Another seven county residents tested positive Tuesday, bringing to 68 the new number of local cases since June 25.
That’s an average of almost six new cases per day over the 12 days.
In contrast, there had been just 24 cases in the prior 26 days or less than one per day.
The latest case numbers Tuesday fall on the same day that Dickson County Schools announced some procedures for a full, five-day return to the classroom for students on August 3.
Strict six-foot social distancing will not be necessary, though the district said it would try to keep students distanced and protected as much as possible.
Face masks will be encouraged but not mandatory.
